Gunns Deliver Two New Statements of Claim. 3 April 2007
Following the decision of Justice Bongiorno on 3 April 2007 in the Victorian Supreme Court, Gunns delivered two new statements of claim to the remaining defendants.
The first concerns five of the original ten actions in the previous claim and involves 14 of the 20 defendants. The second is against Dr Frank Nicklason only for defamation and relates to alleged comments he made to the media about a woodchip pile in Burnie.
All claims of conspiracy have been dropped. All claims against Senator Bob Brown, Helen Gee, Peg Putt MHA, Dr Peter Pullinger and Doctors for Natives Forests have been dropped. All claims in relation to alleged interference with Gunns relationships with their Japanese customers and financiers have been dropped as have the claims about interference with the Banksia awards.
