On 19 and 20 August 2008 the Supreme Court of Victoria ordered Gunns pay Bob Brown and Peg Putt's legal costs for the Gunns20 case in the sum of $52,622.00.

This follows Gunns dropping Putt and Brown from the case in October 2006. On 4 April 2007 Judge Bongiorno ordered Gunns pay their costs on a party/party basis.

The process by which the amount of costs is determined is called “taxation”. The court went through the bill of legal costs prepared by the defendants' solicitors to decide precisely what Gunns should be ordered to pay.

The taxation didn't finish and will continue on 4 December 2008.

The award brings the total that Gunns have agreed (via settling costs) or been ordered after taxation to pay to $590,432.20. This does not include all the costs that have been ordered to date as the precise amount of some costs is yet to be finalised.
